'Both paratha and roti may be made from the same flour but beans are not.' We are not saying this, but the Appellate Authority for Advance Ruling (AAAR) says. This debate about the difference between the two has gone on for a long time. Being troubled by the debate, many times Paratha himself says do not mix us in yourself, we are different. Now new news has come related to this which can disturb the lovers of Paratha Tax News. On Thursday, AAAR asked a ready-to-eat product maker in Ahmedabad to levy 18% GST on its ready-to-eat parathas. This decision has been given regarding ready-to-cook parathas.

Behind this, the Appellate Authority said that there is a big difference between roti and paratha. AAAR told the company Vadilal that frozen roti will attract 5% GST as before, but packed parathas will be charged 18% GST. The company had said in its argument before the appellate that there is not much difference between roti and paratha. Both are made from flour only. That's why paratha should also attract 5% GST like roti. Rejecting this appeal, the AAAR said that only wheat and water are needed to make plain roti, while paratha contains potato, radish, and onion besides vegetable oil and salt. Now people are angry about this.

One wrote that after applying ghee, he ate a lot of parathas. Now eat by applying GST.

One wrote that this is wrong. GST is imposed only on paratha, why not on chutney and pickles? For this one should go on a hunger strike.
