The movie picks up where the first one left off, with Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) barely surviving his mission in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He has retired from mercenary work and is now living in a cabin in Austria. However, he is soon approached by a stranger who asks him to rescue his ex-wife Mia's sister Ketevan (Golshifteh Farahani) and her two children Sandro (Sam Hargrave) and Nina (Ritu Arya), who are currently imprisoned along with her gangster husband Davit Radiani (Tornike Bziava) at Tkachiri prison in Georgia.
Tyler agrees to help, and he sets off for Georgia with his team, which includes his old friend Nik (Riz Ahmed) and a recruit named Yaz (Priyanshu Painyuli). However, things go wrong when Sandro realizes that Tyler had killed his father, and he secretly contacts his uncle Zurab (Tornike Gogrichiani), Davit's overprotective older brother, who sets out to track down Tyler to find his nephew and exact vengeance.
Zurab and his men track down Tyler and the others to the safe house, trapping them in the building. In the chaos, Sandro leaves the group to find Zurab. Tyler and the group end up taking one of Zurab's helicopters to make their escape, but Yaz is killed by Zurab.
Tyler, Ketevan, and the children manage to escape, but they are still being pursued by Zurab and his men. In the end, Tyler can defeat Zurab and save the family, but he is seriously injured in the process. The movie ends with Tyler being taken to a hospital, where he is reunited with Mia.
